INTELLECTUAL CULTURE OF THE PERSON AS A PEDAGOGICAL CONCEPT

Abstract


The article analyzes the different scientific views on the interpretation of the terms "culture" and "intelligence". The basic approaches of scientists to the definition of "intellectual culture" are determined. The article points out that the culture is an important part of the society as a whole and each individual. It is clarified that the culture of the person – a comprehensive description of the person, which gives its the opportunity to live in harmony with the universal, national culture, developing the society and the individuality of its personality. Taking into account scientists’ different points of view, it is concretized that the intelligence is understood as a complex mental activity, which is characterized by the unity of cross-functional relationships of various levels of cognitive functions, such as psychomotor, memory, attention, thinking. Basic approaches of scientists to the definition of "intellectual culture" are also allocated. On its basis the author’s understanding of intellectual culture as the integrated personal education, that provides the person’s ability to independently formulate goals, to plan and to organize a variety of activities, to use the basic mental techniques, to work effectively with traditional and innovative sources of the information, is suggested.
