My Reasons
1. It runs on . server meaning she does not pay for hosting.
2. She gets more ads than NL
I'll update this when I get more but, I'll like your opinions too....
Nairaland will definitely be making more profit because it has more traffic and returning members than linda Ikeji. People sleep on Nairalang unlike Linda Ikeji where you go to once in a while.

Hosting is not really expensive even if you're running on a dedicated server.
Nairaland will definitely be making more profit because it has more traffic and returning members than linda Ikeji. People sleep on Nairalang unlike Linda Ikeji where you go to once in a while.

Nairaland does not get that kind of ad directly from people because they don't want to. The day nairaland advert goes public, that's when people will be fighting for even the smallest spot. Eveen without that, Nairaland still makes more money from ads than Lindaikeji. I'll advise linda to get a real website. It's really embarassing that she's still using blogger.

I think i've told him to start taking ads directly from people but he seems not to fancy the idea.

If you think about it, there really isn't any way for them to get accurate data about nairaland or linda (except if they install a websitelooker script on their site). Really, the formula these "value sites" use involves alexa ratings, alexa page visits,maybe google page rank, and general public data based on these values (alexa values are usually slanted towards tech people because tech people are more likely to install the alexa tool in their browser). That said, alexa can be a general yard stick to see how a site is performing, Nothing more.
Nairaland obviously wins here. All the stat sites tend to back this up too(including alexa). Nairaland is a forum site so it is more interactive by nature. Plus nairaland has an organic ecosystem were people come to buy and sell things.
I just browsed nairaland again and i cannot even see google ads anymore. I really cannot see how nairaland is currently profitable.

Linda wins here. She sets prices on her independent ads, she has adsense, and even her site background is an ad.She has close to ZERO overhead in maintenance costs so all is profit.

Seuns cheques should range from 7k to 15k monthly. Maybe not up to that self, trust me I have used and still use adsense and even though I don't get. Much traffic as he does,but there are ways google calculate this traffic and not every single hit turn into dollars and cents. Anyways both of them are making money from their online hustle and that's all that matters. SEun is doing much work sha.keeping this nairaland 24/7 with probably 99%uptime no be beans o. Linda would never have to worry about that. Seun, I give you hand. Enjoy.

If wishes were horse, beggars would ride. if i owned Nairaland, by now it would have been more than just a forum. There's no reason why by now, Nairaland shouldn't have a news, shopping etc section.

Nairaland traffic flow is neva 2 b compare to Linda Ikeji's. Despite the ads it can't be compare to Nairaland. I sometimes pass all my nyt here. Nairaland is no 1 largest forum in 9ja who make enough through adsense.

Websites like websitelooker.com can be very inaccurate. If you think about it, there really isn't any way for them to get accurate data about nairaland or linda (except if they install a websitelooker script on their site). Really, the formula these "value sites" use involves alexa ratings, alexa page visits,maybe google page rank, and general public data based on these values (alexa values are usually slanted towards tech people because tech people are more likely to install the alexa tool in their browser). That said, alexa can be a general yard stick to see how a site is performing, Nothing more.
Nairaland obviously wins here. All the stat sites tend to back this up too(including alexa). Nairaland is a forum site so it is more interactive by nature. Plus nairaland has an organic ecosystem were people come to buy and sell things.
I just browsed nairaland again and i cannot even see google ads anymore. I really cannot see how nairaland is currently profitable.
Just noticed my browser was blocking the ads! This cant be good for nairaland. Time for independent ads.

Maintenance costs:
While general hosting costs are quite cheap nowadays, in the realm of heavy traffic sites like linda or nairaland, costs can run into several hundred to thousands of dollars a month. Back-end structure tends to get more complex (server farms, load balancing, content delivery networks, SECURITY and MORE SECURITY) . More complexity brings the necessity for more (expensive) expertise.
Linda wins here. Her site is being hosted (and secured) by the number one site in the world (Google). Probably for FREE (or close to it)
Adverts:
High traffic does not equal profit (most times it equals unmanageable maintenance costs). Obviously, the easiest way to make a high-traffic site profitable is through ads. Online ads come in several forms ( affiliate, email, private or even "wayo wayo" ways etc).
Linda wins here. She sets prices on her independent ads, she has adsense, and even her site background is an ad.She has close to ZERO overhead in maintenance costs so all is profit.

If Seun is not making alot of money from Adsense, he wont be ignoring private ads. If he starts accepting private ads, am sure Seun will not be able to promote most of the ads on his site because of many junks some guys would want to advertise here.

But the question is if the site is more "profitable". Because like i said before, these factors don't equal profitability (Some of the biggest sites in the world have yet to become profitable yah know....)

A thousand Ko,1million ni. Dude gone arethe days when people make hundreds of dollars from google, that was way back in 2005 when a few people knew about it. Seuns cheques should range from 7k to 15k monthly. Maybe not up to that self, trust me I have used and still use adsense and even though I don't get. Much traffic as he does,but there are ways google calculate this traffic and not every single hit turn into dollars and cents. Anyways both of them are making money from their online hustle and that's all that matters. SEun is doing much work sha.keeping this nairaland 24/7 with probably 99%uptime no be beans o. Linda would never have to worry about that. Seun, I give you hand. Enjoy.
