як Melvina Jasso (2021-10-19)

Linda Ikeji is a famous blogger in Nigeria who in 2013 made it onto the list of Forbes influential bloggers which is no easy feat!

5d8400f4a2f22.jpegHer blog provides news, beauty tips, and celebrity gossip to her readers.

She started blogging when she was 17 years old with no background in journalism or writing experience.

Today, she has over 3 million followers on Facebook where she posts almost daily.

With so many people following her work, Linda has been able to make a living for herself by running the blog as well as taking advertisements from various companies.

She has been able to launch her own beauty line as well as a clothing line via print on demand.

She was also named one of Time's 100 Most Influential People in 2014 and awarded an honorary doctorate from Babcock University.

Dino-Melaye-Linda-Ikeji-Dazzy-Freeze-andLinda continues to work hard to provide her readers with the latest posts and information on entertainment news.

She has been in the spotlight for her success and achievements as an entrepreneur while being one of Nigeria's most successful bloggers to date.

Her blog began when she had just finished school with no further ideas about what career path to take until she discovered blogging.

A source informed that at a time she was to be served a notice of tax assessment, her father who was to receive the letter allegedly declined to do so saying she could not receive such a notice on behalf of Linda.
On the second occasion, the delivery man was turned back on the excuse that no individual known as Linda Ikeji was resident at the address traced to her business.
The agency however got their way last week as she was said to have been served at her new mansion in highbrow Banana Island while the inland revenue equally made a video and photo evidences to support the service.
A very reliable source at the tax office informed News of the People that checks conducted on the blogger revealed that she had only paid (N4,000) four thousand naira ever as tax to the state government.
At the moment LIRS is said to be requesting for her tax assessment of personal income with a caveat that failure to do so may compel them to proceed to court for a criminal proceedings.
A particular issue raised by a source was the withholding tax ought to have been paid to the state government on the 600 million naira property she recently acquired which may amount to about 30 million naira only.
It was hinted that if the blogger refuses to respond to the request of the inland revenue, the agency shall be forced to drag her to court to face the music.
When the blogger was contacted on the issue by this medium, she neither responded non acknowledged the message sent to her.

You are very silly! Where else should the govt fund the budget if not from taxes! Those you mentioned pays minimum tax since their books are not open. Traders generally contributes the least to IGR in any state as most of them are tax averse.
I'm sure you live far away from Lagos to actually have an idea of where and how Lagos generates the IGR

You don't advertise your wealth out in the open. Tax evasion is a criminal offense and offenders could be imprisoned. Guess her enemies are at work and want her out of the blogging business

There is no enemy here!
She flaunted her wealth and the govt realised that she has either not been performing her civic duty or not doing enough going by the value of her property.

Why reduce this thread to an Alaba & Igbo business issue? Are you saying those are the only people liable to pay tax in Lagos State? The taxation law is not concerned about your ancestral background or which ethnic group you come from.

Kindly note: Linda Ikeji is a Nigerian blogger. It is compulsory to pay tax on any income earned, as well as on existing assets. So are you saying she is being unfairly targeted to pay her tax, as your comment is rather baffling.

Land Use Charge is a tax levied against properties in Lagos State. Any default leads to a penalty. It does not matter if you are Ijaw, Hausa, Yakurr, Kanuri, Igbo, Gwari, Efik, Bachama, Esan, Tiv, Yoruba, Nupe, Annang, Ibibio etc, once you own a property in Lagos State, it is compulsory that you pay that tax called Land Use Charge. There is also the PAYE TAX, which is an income tax. When she was splashing details of her property online, wasn't she aware that everyone was reading it, including the tax man?

The chickens have come home to roost!

You are irremediably gone far into bigotry
She can relocate to her village and be blogging there if Lagos is choking her with the tax policy
Congratulations

Guy Mechionu there coz you are not making sense. If your people don't wanna get taxed by Lagos state Govt. they should move to Onitsha or wherever in the East. Kapish! How much is their contribution sef? ? I mean, are you saying the traders in Onitsha and Aba, the "biggest markets in Africa", are so useless that they can't generate enough revenue for their respective states to match what Lagos supposedly makes from your traders? Use your brain, boy! You're too sentimental.

When I read this post, I felt like throwing up. Gosh!! How did we come about people like this in this country?? Is Nigeria cursed or something??

Even though I doubt the authenticity of this news due to the source, I ask, is LI supposed to be above the law and exempt from her duties as a citizen of this country and a business woman in Lagos because "she's Igbo"??

People who visit her are drawn from many tribes, Yorubas inclusive. They help to give her the traffic which makes businesses [want to] advertise on her blog thereby helping her make money. But suddenly, when the government comes after her for tax evasion, it becomes a "Yoruba vendetta".

How could an issue of tax evasion be reduced to a tribal thing??

God forbid!! Tufia!!
